Marjorie Jane Murphy

Marjorie Jane Murphy passed peacefully in her sleep at the age of 89, on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Cascadia of Nampa. Marj was born March 25, 1933, at Mrs. Brown's Maternity Hospital in Nampa to Addie and Henry Heithecker. She was an only child until her brother, Donald, arrived 17 1/2 months later. She was raised on a farm north of Nampa and went to Lower Fairview grade school where she was one of only two students in her class. She graduated from Meridian High School in 1951. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from College of Idaho in 1955. The highlight of her college years was joining a scientific field trip to Mexico in 1954. The trip lasted almost two months, and the students were allowed only one night in a hotel. Every other night was camping out from the west to the east coast of Mexico. Marj married John Dale Murphy on December 23, 1956. They had four children--Lori Miller (Tom), Kevin Murphy (Shelly), Tracy Murphy, and Todd Murphy (Leora). Marj became a medical technologist and worked for 40 years in hospitals in Boise, Caldwell, and Nampa. While employed at Mercy Medical Center in Nampa, she won a drawing for a seven day trip to Hawaii. She was absolutely thrilled! After retiring, she was able to travel often with her daughter, Tracy, who was a travel agent. She seemed to enjoy cruises the most as they were the epitome of retirement -- very relaxing and no set schedule to follow! Marj loved her family dearly. From her husband, Dale, to her four children, seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, Marj was always ready with a hug and a kiss to make things all better. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her grandson, Josh. She is survived by her children and spouses, her brother and sister-in-law Donald and Carolyn Heithecker, cousin Marilyn Bruneel, and two special friends/family, Irma McFaddan and Lillian Frost.
