Jimmie Leon Mead

Jimmie Leon Mead, beloved husband, step-father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on November 30, 2018 in Nampa, Idaho after an extended illness. He was born January 29, 1933 in Depew, Oklahoma and raised by his maternal grandparents James and Ruby Hanks. Upon completion of high school Jimmie served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. After being honorably discharged he moved to California and resided in Salinas. He taught at Hartnell College and was the owner and a vocational teacher at Agri-Trade School. Upon his retirement he relocated to Nampa, Idaho. Jimmie was a kind and gentle man who loved country western music. His hobbies included landscape painting, traveling and he was an avid card player. He belonged to the Salinas RV Travel Club and was a member of the Salinas Elks Lodge. Jimmie was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Lou Tackett; his maternal grandparents James and Ruby Hanks; and his uncles Paul Hanks and Jack Hanks. He is survived by his wife Barbara; four step-children: James (Linda) Mead of Monterey, CA, Judy (Walter) Archambeault of Durham, NH, Julie (Jerry) Crawford of Nampa, ID, John (Korin) Mead of Middleton, ID; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother Donald Mead of CA; sister Wanda Nolette of TX; cousin Lewis Ray of Oklahoma; nephew Jack D. Hanks of CA; and cousin Dwayne Willis of CA. The family would like to give special thanks to Liz Richmond, and his healthcare givers of Family Life Memory Care Facility for enriching Jimmie's last few months of life. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 6 at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd in Nampa with a viewing from 12:00 to 12:50 p.m. prior to the services.
