Carol Sue Rawlins Fly was born January 27, 1933 to Milton (Dick) Rawlins and Rosetta Higginson Rawlins in Nampa, Idaho. She was the 3rd of 4 children, who were all raised at 804 8th Ave. South. Her siblings include Ronald Rawlins, Peggy Schaefer and Kathleen Wheatley.Mom attended schools in Nampa where she graduated from Nampa High School in 1951. She was active in orchestra where she played the violin. She was in Spiz and student government. She worked at the old Pix Theater downtown Nampa during her teen years. Mom held dear, her many memories of childhood and youth and was so proud of living in her BELOVED Nampa her entire life!She married John Wilson Fly, who was a brakeman on the Union Pacific Railroad and were married for 71 years! They were blessed with 4 children: Rebecca Wintrode (Terry), Kelly Fly (Ladene), Corey Fly (Shellie) and David Fly (Brenda).Mom was a happy homemaker, and we were blessed to have her at home with the family. She baked and was our taxi for many years! Mom made sure we learned music, took summer activities/classes and went to church. Because she lost her own mother at a young age, she never missed an opportunity to teach us to love and appreciate our family!Our family made many fun memories camping, boating, and building a cabin on West Mountain in Cascade, ID. That cabin, built with the love of many hands, has been a special gathering place for 4 generations of the Fly family since 1970.Mom was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and made many wonderful lasting friendships through her church service in both Nampa and Caldwell wards.FAMILY was #1 in priority of importance to our sweet, loving Mother. She was a happy and positive influence in our lives and the lives of her 19 grandchildren, 47 great grands and 3 great great grandchildren. Survivors include her husband John (Johnsey), 4 children and their spouses and the many grand children who blessed our family. Mom is survived by her 2 sisters, Peggy Schaefer and Kathleen Wheatley. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, her only brother Ronald, grandson Michael Wintrode and her great granddaughter Kennidy Braithwaite. Graveside service will be held 2pm Friday Jan. 14, 2022 in the Kohlerlawn Cemetery, 76 6th St. North, Nampa. A memorial service will be announced at a later date in the Spring. Services are under the direction of Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
