Arlene Mae Marek Triplett Hill

Arlene Marek Triplett Hill of Melba passed away on November 25, 2015, at her home following an extended illness. She is survived by her husband Richard "Dick" Hill and his family; her brother Ralph (Mescal) Kistler; her sisters Ellen (Charles) Eshelman and Evelyn (Harry) Mabey; her children: Charles Marek, Tony (Karen) Marek, Sonya (Steve) Keister, and Denise (Donnie) Lau; her step-children Lane (Paula) Triplett and Ann Triplett; her grandchildren: Bethany Aldridge, Jinnalee (Adam) Barta, Robert (Karli) Johnson, Jake Lau, Daniel Lau, Shawn (Maria) Coby, and Ben (Diana) Nydegger; 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. The family extends its deepest gratitude to the wonderful caregivers who provided comfort to Arlene in the last months of her life. Arlene was born in Pennsylvania to Lewis and Grace Kistler, and she moved with her family to the Bowmont community in 1945. After graduating from Nampa High School, she married Robert Marek in 1950 and they farmed and raised their four children in Bowmont. Arlene was an active member of community organizations, serving as a 4-H leader, a member of the Bowmont Community Church, and a member of the Melba parent-teacher association. Arlene loved so many things--any sport her children and grandchildren played (or worked), yard and estate sales, camping and family reunions, western history, music and musical theatre, collecting dishes and decorative copper, watching the kids fishing on the river, and traveling around Idaho and beyond. She was so proud of her children and their accomplishments and she loved sharing the special moments of their lives with them. Arlene's passions for cooking and gardening are legendary, and she happily shared what she knew--and grew--with anyone who wanted to spend time in her kitchen or gardens. A true "home" maker, she treasured her life raising her family on the Marek farm in Bowmont, building a log home on the Snake River with Kenneth Triplett whom she married in 1976, and in later years, entertaining guests of the Snake River Log Bed & Breakfast in Owyhee County with her husband Dick whom she married in 1994. Arlene was "Mom" to more than just the generations of children in her family--she loved and nurtured so many of her children's dearest friends, several of whom were able to join her along with friends and family at her joyful 80th birthday celebration in 2013. She shared her generous heart, her warm embrace, and her radiant smile with those who loved her every day of her life. We will love and miss her forever. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N. Midland Blvd., Nampa. Family and friends are invited to gather following the service from 2-4 p.m.at the home of Lane and Paula Triplett, 7448 W. Thunder Mountain Dr., Boise.
