Ada Ann Whitney, 85, of Nampa, Idaho passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Saint Luke's Hospital in Meridian, ID after a brief illness.Ada was born December 20, 1932 in Arriola, Colorado to Malcom Kirk and Emma May Overstreet. Malcom and Emma moved their family to make Idaho their new home on December 21, 1941. On May 20, 1950 Ada married Thomas Keith Dodge and together they were blessed with seven children. After 29 years of marriage they divorced and Ada eventually moved to Medford, Oregon. In 1987 Ada moved back to Idaho where she eventually met Loren Alan Whitney. On January 9, 1989 Ada and Loren were married and resided in Melba, Idaho. Ada enjoyed camping, fishing, dancing, telling jokes, crafting and visiting with friends and strangers at the local bars in Melba. Ada also enjoyed canning and making her family their favorite meal, homemade chicken noodles and rolls which she was known quite well for. Over the years Ada worked at Meridian Wood, Albertsons, Consumers Market, Cooks Two-Hole Bar and the Palace Bar. While living in Melba, Ada was also a regular patron of the Melba Senior Center and after she moved to Nampa she became a proud patron of the Nampa Senior Center where she made many friends and loved to read jokes to the other folks there for lunch. Ada was preceded in death by her father Malcom Overstreet; her Mother Emma Groesbeck; her step-father Pat Groesbeck; her sister Fern Miller and her brother James Overstreet; her baby daughter Dawn Michelle Dodge; the father of her children Thomas Keith Dodge; her granddaughter Dawn Dusty Dodge; her brother-in-law Alton Steen; her husband Loren Whitney; son-in-law Mark Simmons; and lastly her final partner and fur friend Jasmine (Jazzy). She is survived by her children: Teresa Simmons of Salt Lake City, UT, Julia (Dell) Jensen of Kennewick, WA, Terry (Shelly) Dodge of Nampa, ID; Shawna (Jose) Fernandez of Nampa, ID, Stephanie (Duane) Huffman of Meridian, ID, Misti Dodge of Nampa, ID; her sisters Dixie Steen of Melba, ID, Janice (Leslie) Paustian of Heppner, OR; her nephew Kenneth (MaryAnn) Steen of Garden Valley, ID; Debbie and Jim Lankford of Heppner, OR; Charlene and Craig Butt of Nampa, ID as well as 21 grandkids, 41 great- grandkids and 3 great-great- grandkids. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 29 at the Melba Cemetery on Baseline Road, Melba with a viewing to be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 28 at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd, Nampa.
