On January 27, 2022 Nelda Evans Kershaw, 89, wife of Larry Morton Kershaw, peacefully passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family. Nelda was born December 8, 1932 to Sarah and Edward Evans. She was the seventh of nine children and loved each of her siblings dearly. She was born and raised in Sugar City, Idaho. After graduating from Sugar-Salem High School she worked as an operator for the telephone company. She accepted a call to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to the North Western States Mission from 1956-1957. She served faithfully and loved the time spent in Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington. She developed a lifelong love for the west coast and returned often with her family through the remainder of her life. Shortly after serving an honorable mission she returned home and was introduced to her nephew's Sunday school teacher, Larry. They put the spark in one another's eyes and fell deeply in love. They were married and sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Temple on June 20, 1958. Their joy in life came through their five daughters and two sons. She loved being a mother and considered it the noblest calling in life. She had a special relationship with her mother and mother in law. She treasured each new baby as they joined her family and took every opportunity to care for them. Together Larry and Nelda built a wonderful life in Idaho, calling Lewisville, Roberts, Kuna and finally Caldwell/Middleton home. They served a mission together in the Canada Winnipeg Mission. Her home was filled with what she treasured most, her family and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She loved the Lord with all of her heart. She lived a valiant life, regularly attending the temple, church meetings and she knelt in prayer and read her scriptures daily. She shared her testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone around her. She was concerned about her family and friend's well-being and always prayed for them. Nelda grew up with a sewing machine in one hand and a hammer in the other. She built a fruit cellar for her mother that lasted through the Teton Dam flood and sewed her own wedding dress and each one of her five daughters' wedding dresses. She was a hard worker and spent 15 years at Hewlett Packard. You could find her enjoying time with her husband and family, sewing, cooking, gardening, riding her bike, playing ping pong, at a rodeo, working on a project, in the mountains and without fail had ice cream cones for everyone. Nelda described her life here on earth in one simple phrase she said, "It was wonderful". She is survived by her children: Kathie "K" Butler Pease (Larry), Julia Ann Peters (Tom), Nelda Jane Hamilton (Rob), Susan Janette Patterson (Ron), Brenda Jo Corder, Glen Larry Kershaw (Allison), Myron Lawrence Kershaw (Kristin), many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother Myron Evans. Sisters-in-law: Rhea Evans, Naomi Evans, Norene Kershaw. Brother-in-law Gene Andrews and many nieces and nephews. She deeply loves each one of them. She is preceded in death by her dear husband Larry. Parents Sarah Otera Cluff and Edward Partington Evans. Sons-in-law: Ross L Butler, Phil R Corder. Granddaughter Heidi Janette Patterson. Great-grandchildren: Kelci Grace Howland and Kaleb Grant Howland. Siblings: Fay Dansie (Ronald), Verla Price (Kenneth), William Evans, Marjorie Nelson (Lynn), Elihu Evans, Wanda Lue Belnap (Arlo), Paul Evans. Sister-in-law Lois Evans. Father and Mother-in-Law Charles Elmer and Josie Mabel Kershaw. Siblings-in-law: Hyrum, George, LaFaun Andrews, Glen, Marcea Mae and Janalin Kershaw.
