W. O. "Bill" Taylor, Sr, 84, husband of Shirley Taylor, former State Representative for Idaho, returned to his Heavenly Home on Monday, October 10, 2016. William Orin Taylor was born 29 July 1932 in Zanesville, Ohio. He was the son of Lorena (Winkler) and Henry Taylor. Bill married his high school sweetheart on March 11, 1951. They were the parents of six children: Bill (Kris) of Nampa, Larry (Tay) of St. Louis, MO, Sallie (Drew) of UT, Charles (Ryan) of Beverly Hills, CA, Richard (Danielle) of Huntington Beach, CA, and Julie (Barry) of Caldwell. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Jacobs Taylor; his six children; 23 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; his brother Ronald (Shirley) of St. Augustine, Florida. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his brother Bobby Taylor; sister Betty Taylor; and grandson Kurt Taylor Bradshaw. Bill served three years in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings throughout his time on earth. He was a member of the Nampa Exchange Club, helped the Boys and Girls Club get started and volunteered many hours. He was the Chairman of the Board of Healthy Families organization. He gave of himself in every way he could. Bill served 14 years as a State Representative for the State of Idaho. He served as Chairman of the Business Committee. He was a true Statesman. He loved working in the political arena, working on many campaigns getting Republicans elected. He knew the constitution and loved being an American and having freedom to choose. He served three full time missions for the LDS church with his wife Shirley. After retirement they spent 10 years serving missions in Eastern Europe, Birmingham, England, Hong Kong and 12 Southeast Asia Countries. Shirley was the light and love of his life, his family was his treasure. His church was his life. His country gave him a place to grow and prepare for eternity. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 14 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 6115 Birch Lane in Nampa. Family and friends are invited to visit with family from 10:15 to 10:45 at the church prior to the services.
