Allan E. Wood

Allan Wood passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on March 25, 2022, at the age of 89. He was born in Mason City, Nebraska, April 22, 1932 to Harold and Hazel Wood. In 1935, when he was three, his family moved from Nebraska to Riverton, Wyoming. They began a homestead in Wyoming and remained in the area for the next nine years. It was during this time he lost his two sisters and only brother. Allan would spend the rest of his life as an only child. In 1946, Allan and his parents moved to Roundup, Montana. In Roundup, his family began a coal mine and a saw mill. Allan attended a one room school house where he was the only student in his grade. He continued helping his father in the coal mine and at the saw mill until he married Donna Morgan. They had two daughters Pat and Susan. He joined the Army and served in the Korean War. He and Donna eventually separated. He then worked in the oil fields until 1958. Allan then married Margaret Duvall and together they moved to Houston, Idaho. They had two girls and two boys, Reva, Marvin, Kemmy, and Harlan. They separated later in life. Allan farmed for 15 years in a partnership with his father, Harold Wood. During this time, they began a feedlot on Homedale Road and bought a ranch on the Brownlee Reservoir. After Harold's retirement they sold the ranch and Allan went on to farm on his own until his retirement in 2007. He met Jo'An Ward in 2005, and they remained together until his death. He and Jo'An were avid Boise State University fans and enjoyed watching the games together. Allan is survived by his children: Pat (Mark) Durlam, Susan (John) Rabidou, Reva (Darryl) Vance, Marvin (Allison) Wood, Kemmy (Don) Vanek, Harlan Wood; his companions Jo'An Ward, Chip and Susie. He leaves behind ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. The family wishes to thank Treasure Valley Hospice and his home caregivers Artea Emond and Bonnie Rydman from the Home Watch Homecare. The viewing and funeral services will be held at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N. Midland Blvd in Nampa, ID on Wednesday, March 30. The viewing will begin at 1:00 PM with services at 2:00 PM. The interment will be following the services at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery.
