On January 28, 2023, at the age of 90, our dear mother, step-mother, grandmother, and friend, Gillie Glenith Ferris Betts Ethington of Nampa, Idaho passed away and returned to our Heavenly Father. She was strong, sweet, kind, and beloved by all. Gillie was born on February 27, 1932 in Rock Camp, Ohio, the daughter of Gilbert Leroy Ferris and Rhoda Alice Moore Ferris. She married James Robert Betts II, in 1951. He died in the Korean War in 1953. Gillie and James had one son, James Robert Betts III, who survives him mother. In 1987, Gillie married John Raymond Ethington, Sr. They were sealed in the Boise Idaho Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent 11 happy years together before John passed away in 1998. Gillie is also survived by her stepchildren: John Raymond Ethington, Jr., Cherrie Merrell, Mark Ethington, Dwight Ethington, and Mary Davies; and 14 step-grandchildren. Gillie was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Gilbert Ferris; her sisters Effie Ferris, Eisabel Bistock, and five other siblings that died in infancy. Gillie was a lab tech for Packard Orthodontics, which later became Tingey Orthodontics, in Boise and Meridian. She was an indispensable employee. Gillie was a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved sharing the good news of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 AM. Saturday, February 11 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 11288 Roosevelt Avenue in Nampa with a viewing from 8:30 to 9:15 prior to the services.
