Kenneth Wade Patterson

Kenneth Wade Patterson, 85, of Nampa, passed away March 22, 2017 peacefully at home. Kenneth was born February 7, 1932 in Nampa, Idaho to William Lloyd and Ila Euvena Fletcher Patterson. They lived in Nampa for a couple of years and moved to Midvale, Idaho. Dad loved the farm, close family, friends and his dog. He spent eight years of his childhood in Midvale until the family moved back to Nampa. He graduated from Nampa High School in 1951. Two years later he joined the Navy and he was part of Operation Freedom in the Pacific. During his time in the Navy he served many positions, one being a radio operator on his ship, the U.S. Tortuga. He left the Navy in 1956 and met Velma Louise Ott Schwarze and they were married on November 24, 1958. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They had three children: Karla, Marie and Ken. He had many jobs during his life working at Greenleaf Creamery, Nampa and Terrace Drive Inns, Karcher Twin Theaters, Bryce Millar Farms, and for Darwin Pancheri at Noble Farms. Kenneth loved camping, fishing, hunting, bowling and softball. He and Velma went camping, fishing and gold mining as much and as often as they could get away. Kenneth was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions. One of his favorites was Family History Director, which he did for eight years and loved every minute of it. Ken and Velma considered this their mission and enjoyed helping people find their ancestors. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Velma Louise Ott Schwarze; and his parents. Kenneth is survived by his brothers, Marlin (Donna) Patterson, Don (Lorna) Patterson; his children: Karla (Lee) Swenson, Marie (Dale) Koger, Ken (Brendy) Patterson; grandchildren: Casey, Cameron, Courtney (Justin), Annalee, Lyri, Destyn, Austin, Danielle; great-grandchildren Tiffany and Cooper; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 29, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 607 W. Locust Lane in Nampa. A graveside service will follow at Kohlerlawn cemetery. Arrangements by Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa. (467-7300) Condolences may be expressed at zeyerfuneralchapel.com
