Kent Poulsen Bunn

On the Morning of October 9, 2018 Kent Poulsen Bunn comfortably slipped away from this earth life to be reunited with his bride of over 50 years (Fredrie), his parents, three brothers and an infant sister (Lozell). The third son of Sarah Ruth Poulsen Bunn and Ernest King Bunn, Kent was born January 30, 1932 in Lanark, Bear Lake, Idaho. While still a youngster, the family moved to an Island in the middle of the Snake River near Ontario, Oregon. By then the family had been joined by a fourth son. When Kent was in the 8th grade, the family moved to Nyssa, Oregon. This is where Kent attended and graduated from High School. After High School he and his brother, Morrell, joined the Air Force to avoid being drafted. It wasn't too long before their unit was activated to Valdosta, Georgia. Kent was a motor vehicle mechanic and Morrell worked in the office. Kent came home and married Fredrie Fife in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on March 9, 1951. Thier unit went to Victorville, CA December 12, 1952, Kent received an honorable discharge from active duty. After being discharged, Kent & Fredrie moved back to Nyssa where he worked for the Ford Garage for a while. He then started working for the Idaho Air National Guard full time and they moved to Boise. He not only worked as a mechanic but also became an instructor. Kent retired from the Air National Guard as a Senior Master Sargent on February 10, 1978. Kent was always busy and had several other jobs and projects going. If he didn't know how to do something he would read, try, and get it done. Morrell, Kent and father Ernest built a log cabin (including stone fireplace) in McCall, Idaho. Kent & Morrell took out a desert entry claim near Kuna, Idaho where they tried to make the desert bloom like a rose. Kent started his own well drilling and water pump company. He even took a turn as president of the Idaho Water Well Association. Kent & Fredrie worked for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as custodians. He worked hard and always tried to teach his children to be dependable. He was a man of few words and preferred to show his love and dedication through his actions. It was only in his later years of life he learned to say "I Love You". There were many vacations that built lasting family memories. Kent served in many positions in the Church. One position he served in the longest and will be remembered best for was Explorer Scout Leader. He taught scout values and much more. Kent's high school sweetheart, Fredrei, passed away October 23, 2003. He was very lonesome and for the next couple of years looked for someone to help fill his life. He met Judith Jane Lloyd on line at an LDS website. May 6, 2006 they were married in Elko, Nevada. December 2017 health problems with both Kent and Judith required more individual care from their children and so they separated, but they were in constant communication and missed living together. Kent is survived by his wife Judith; daughter Debbie Lough; sons: Scott, Philip & David; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; all of whom love him and will miss him very much. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 19 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 3700 S. Maple Grove Rd in Boise with a viewing at the Church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services.
