Mayvon Allen

Mayvon Allen, 82, of Kuna, passed away Monday, July 21, 2014 at a local care center. May was born the oldest of six siblings to Nida and Cecil Sargent in Coalville, Utah. It was there she spent her childhood years, living on the farm. She worked hard to receive her college degree and had fond memories of living with her adored grandmother during those years. Later she worked as a switchboard operator in a hotel when she met the man she would later marry in Logan, Utah, Warren L. Allen. During that time they were blessed with their first daughter, Colleen (DeLay). Later they moved to his state of origin, Idaho, where they were blessed with another daughter, Janet (Tooley). Although May and Warren were divorced, they were able to share in the lives of their daughters and grandchildren together. May loved her grandchildren: Cassandra Wilt, Hilary Delay, Felecia Garcia, Cordell DeLay and great-grandchild Jeffrey Willis. May appreciated her sons-in-law Michael DeLay and Eddie Tooley. May had a strong work ethic throughout her life. She loved to work and during her later years talked about how she missed it. She provided childcare for family and friends, worked in the school setting as an educational assistant, enjoyed cleaning homes and businesses and also helped seniors in their homes. She was also employed by Blacker Furniture, Northwest Building Maintenance and Canyon County on the Aging. Her family would like to acknowledge the friends and staff at Kuna Living Center for their amazing dedication to providing our loved one with an environment in which she was able to feel safe, cared for and content. Thank you! Mother, grandmother and friend, she was happiest when she was helping someone else. She loved to buy gifts and received much joy in giving or sharing with others. Her greatest love was for her Savior, Jesus Christ. She enjoyed church, Bible studies and music about the hope of Heaven. In 2008, May was proud to be baptized at the Ten Mile Community Church where she shared the following thoughts written from her heart: "I, having faith, knowing Jesus the Christ bled and died on the cross for my sins and lives in all power today, know that it states in Romans 6:4 Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of you sins and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. So I desire this ordinance at this time to purify the sins which are within me and I thank my loving Savior for my glorious salvation!" Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 26 at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd in Nampa. (467-7300) A viewing will be held at Zeyer Funeral Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 25. The family has asked us to let those who will be attending the funeral services know that there will be a time for the sharing of memories. Please come and share the wonderful memories you have of our sweet May.
