Donna Mae Schenck

Donna Schenck, 92 years old, died peacefully at home on August 10, 2023, in Nampa, Idaho. Donna was born June 7, 1931; her parents were Louis and Hazel Bettis. She had five brothers and sisters and was born in Sioux City, IA. The family moved to Hemet, CA when she was a young child and eventually settled in Riverside, where she was raised and graduated from Poly High School in 1949. After graduation, she got a job at the newspaper, Press Enterprise, as a copygirl and later, a switchboard operator. A few years later, she met Charles B. Schenck who would become her best friend and the love of her life. They eloped to Las Vegas on February 7, 1953, and were married 65 years before Charles (Chuck) preceded her in death in 2018. They lived many adventures together in Pleasanton, Half-Moon Bay, and Riverside, before moving North for a time to Kalispell, Montana. They eventually settled in Nampa, Idaho, where she volunteered at Mercy Hospital and St. Alphonsus for over twenty years. She loved the Lord, taught bible studies, and served as a Christian Faith Center Church greeter. Chuck and Donna had three children: Chuck, Trina, and Tammy. Donna loved being involved in her children's lives, frequently volunteered at their schools, and was even Den Mother of her son's Cub Scouts troop. She devoted her life to her husband, children, grandchildren, and her dogs who were loving companions. Donna loved to gather with those she loved dearest and regularly expressed her love through food and hosting friends and family gatherings. She was passionate about being outdoors, especially in her gardens and fruit trees. Donna lived a long, good life and is survived by her son, Chuck Schenck, and his wife, Tami; daughter, Trina Westberg; preceded in death by her daughter, Tammy Chavez; and death by one grandson, SSG Eric C. Schenck. She is survived by her grandchildren, Marissa & Guy Delcambre, Sean & Mackenzie Chavez, Chelsea & Evan Thompson, Shaylyn & Mike St. Peter, Sarah & Anthony Mondragon, and Noah Chavez, as well as her great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emily, Chloe, Miles, Nevaeh, Rayanna, Harmony, Baylee, Chandra, Tyson, Silas, Aubrey, Tyler, Jace, Hayden, and Damien. We will celebrate her life and memory with a potluck at 5:00 pm on Saturday, August 19, at 1504 Garland St, Nampa. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Monday August 21, at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd in Nampa, with a viewing at 11:00 am prior to the services. A graveside service will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Caldwell. Following the service there will be coffee, refreshments, and dessert at her home, 1504 Garland St, Nampa. Those that knew Donna are welcome.
