Marilyn May (Felsing) Dawson was born May 24, 1931, to Edward Henry and Florence Elizabeth (Schultz) Felsing in Tarentum, Pennsylvania. She was the eldest of three children. She passed away peacefully on March 16, 2018, at home with her family at her side. After graduating from Tarentum High School, Marilyn attended Slippery Rock College in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, to obtain her teaching certificate. She participated in the synchronized swimming team there and was a talented pianist; she could have chosen to go to the concert level. She had only her student teaching to finish when she met Robert William Dawson. They eloped and were married on August 16, 1952. They were blessed with five children. His job required frequent moves and she followed him from Mississippi, Florida, Louisiana, Texas, California, Wyoming, then they retired to Melba, Idaho, where they have resided for close to 30 years. Marilyn and Bob were baptized members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1958 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was a faithful member throughout her life and served in many leadership positions in the Relief Society, Young Women and Primary organizations. She loved the Lord and had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She was a talented artist and her family home holds many of her paintings. She also enjoyed creating porcelain dolls, sewing clothing for her children, and making beautiful flower arrangements for social and church gatherings. Marilyn was a wonderful cook and enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends. Above all, she loved her family and desired good things to come to them. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Robert W. Dawson, Sr., and their five children: Samuel "Edward" (Michele) Dawson, Mountain Home, Idaho; Robin Fellman, Delta Junction, Alaska; Charlene Connor, Orem, Utah; Jennifer (Kurt) Nastasi, Gretna, Louisiana; Robert W. (Carol) Dawson Jr., York, South Carolina; her sister, Charlene Wilson, Pennsylvania; and her brother, Edward Felsing, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Florence Felsing; in-laws Clyde & Eilene (Traugh) Mellott; and Kenneth & Margaret (Maginski) Dawson.
