Betty Mae Bower Breckon

Betty Mae Bower Breckon, age 92, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022 peacefully at home. Betty was born February 22, 1930 in Marsing, Idaho to Jim and Bessie Larsen. She was the middle child of one brother and one sister. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Bill Larsen and Barbara Sircin. Betty was married to Raymond Bower on June 13, 1948 in Marsing. They lived most of their married life in Parma, Idaho later moving to Caldwell. Raymond died in an automobile accident on January 13, 1970. They were the parents of Linda Mae Bower Jacobs, Raymond "Wayne" Bower and Peggy Ann Bower. Betty worked in the Parma school cafeteria while helping Raymond with the dairy and beef cattle farm in Parma. She cooked many meals for the neighbors that came to help during harvest season, and also had to start the milking when Raymond served in the Bishopric and was attending meetings. After moving to Caldwell, she worked as a secretary at Washington Elementary School and in the lab at the Carnation Potato Processing Plant. She later became a realtor. It was then that she met Blaine Breckon and they were married in 1997. She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Leading the church choir for many years brought her great joy. She had a beautiful soprano singing voice and was called on frequently to sing solos. When she moved to Caldwell, she was a member of Thursday Musicals and Major & Minors Community Choirs. In Parma and Caldwell she held many positions in the church including the Primary and Mutual (Young Women's) organizations. In Parma she was Primary President and later also served as a counselor in the Nyssa Stake Primary Presidency. She also served in the Boise Idaho Temple for 20 years. Betty loved gardening and had a beautiful flower and abundant vegetable garden. She also was an avid and accomplished quilter and entered quilts at the Canyon County Fair. Making quilts for her grandchildren was a treasured gift. Her Grandma Annie taught her to knit and crochet. She would crochet alter cloths for the Boise Temple and also contributed many of her crocheting and knitting projects to various charitable organizations. Betty was preceded in death by Raymond Bower, her son Raymond Wayne Bower and Blaine Breckon. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren that she dearly loved. As often as possible, she excitedly attended many sporting events to watch these children.
