Esta Maurice Allen

Maurice Esta Allen (87) went to join our Lord on February 1, 2017. Maurice was born to Uba and Lilann Silvey Allen on June 30, 1929 in Pomona, CA. They moved to Twin Falls, ID in 1931 and Maurice grew up on the Olmstead Ranch with his parents. After graduating from Twin Falls High School in 1947, Maurice and his parents started their own farm southwest of Twin Falls. Maurice met his beloved wife of 57 years, Wilma Holloway in February of 1959 and they were married that August. They attended the First Christian Church in Twin Falls, where he participated on the church board and served on the bus committee and helped maintain the church bus. They continued to farm and raise dairy cattle in Twin Falls where they raised their children. He was a 4-H leader for the Curry Kids 4-H Club and the 4-H Udder Club, assisting youth with dairy, swine, and miscellaneous projects. He was the 4-H Dairy Superintendent at the Twin Falls County Fair and served as president of the Twin Falls County 4-H Leaders' Council. He was certified as a Hunters Education Instructor and taught gun safety through 4-H. In 1984, the family moved to Boise and settled in Nampa where Maurice worked at several truck shops as a diesel mechanic. Maurice was then able to fulfill a lifelong dream of working on locomotives for MK Rail from which he retired in 1995. After retirement, he drove bus for Caldwell Transportation, driving a school route, ski bus to Bogus Basin in the winter and transporting wildlands firefighters in the summer. Maurice enjoyed Model Railroading and participated in the Nampa Model Railroad Club. He created many model railroad layouts that he enjoyed including a replica of the Amalgamated Sugar Company facility in Nampa. Maurice is survived by his wife, Wilma; his daughter Maurine (Steven) Johnson, daughter Cozette Bolshaw, and son Mike (Kim) Allen; grandchildren: Rebecca and Benjamin Bolshaw, Matthew (Amy) and Christopher Johnson, John, Tylor (Syringa) and Cody Allen; and two great-grandchildren Ryan and Wyatt Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Uba and Lilann; his son in law Steven Johnson; and great-granddaughter Xandra Jade Johnson.
