Tad Clive McGary was born April 26, 1929, the son of Owen and Lillian (Greco) McGary. He had two brothers, Noel Berkley McGary and Keith Hal McGary and one sister, Gail McGary Nielsen. Tad grew up in Shelley, Idaho and graduated from Shelley High School. He married Denise Searle on September 5, 1950 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Shortly after their marriage, Tad was drafted into the US Army and served two years in the Korean Conflict. The McGary's first child, Cynthia, was born while Tad was in Korea. Four more children followed: Michael Clive, Sheila, Kirk Tad and Kay.Tad was trained in the trade of construction as a teenager by his father. He built three of the homes the family lived in and a church in Shelley, Idaho. When Tad retired from construction he worked for Boise Cascade as a door plant manager. That job moved them to Layton, Utah in 1979.An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Tad loved teaching, served in three Bishoprics, worked in the Ogden LDS Temple and served a mission to Baltimore, Maryland with his lovely wife, Denise. In 2002, Tad and Denise moved back to Idaho.Tad Clive McGary passed away in Nampa, Idaho on Wednesday, January 11, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers; and four grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Denise; his sister Gail (Vaughn) Nielsen; sister-in-law Cora (Hal) BcGary; five children and their spouses: Cynthia (Merritt) Harker of Nampa, Idaho, Michael (Julie) McGary of St. George, Utah, Sheila (Randy) Baird of Magna, Utah, Kirk (Blenda) McGary of Morgan, Utah and Kay (Lewis) Jacobs of Layton, Utah; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.A viewing will be held from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, January 14, at the Melba LDS building, 112 Randolph Street in Melba. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Monday, January 16 at the Shelley LDS building located at 513 S. Park, in Shelley, Idaho. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Shelley, Idaho.
