Donald Leigh Krack was born to Gordon Luther and Grace Zelma Speer Krack during a snowstorm on December 9, 1928, in Kansas City, Missouri. His formative years were during the decade of the Great Depression, which left an indelible impression on his mind and life. From his father who was an accountant, he learned to be frugal, an admirable quality, which enabled Don to bless his family and many others all his life. From his grandfather Krack, who was a farmer, he learned to understand the cycle of life and respect for the land and the earth. It was on that farm that he enjoyed shooting and learned to drive. Don was drafted into the U.S. Army in January 1951. He was part of the 532nd Engineer Boat and Shore regiment during the Korean War, which, like the Great Depression, left imprints on his mind and life that could not be removed or forgotten. Don loved his country and the principle of freedom for all. After his service in Korea he returned to Kansas City.In April of 1955 he packed his black 1950 Ford convertible and drove on Route 66 to Los Angeles, California. It was there he began working at Lockheed Aircraft where he remained until his retirement 36 years later. But more importantly, it was there that he met the beautiful Camellia Hinds. They married in 1956, and soon started their family which included two daughters, Donna and Virginia. He took his role as husband and father seriously.Don was a quiet, observant, considerate man who loved history, reading and his Lord, Jesus Christ.Don is survived by his daughters Donna Llewellyn (David) of Stevenson Ranch, California and Virginia McBride (Glen) of Kuna, Idaho; nine grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Camillia.A private family service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 4, 2022. Friends and guests may join via ZOOM.
