David Gaylord Cotterell of Nampa-Middleton, passed away at the age of 94, on Thursday, December 16, 2021.David was born on July 28, 1927, in a log home by the Snake River near Aberdeen, Bingham County, Idaho. He was the last of seven children born to Clyde Clifford Cotterell and Mattie Alice Easley Cotterell.His brothers and sisters were Clifford (Lauretta) Cotterell, Ramona (Robert) Kerr, Natalie (Sterling) McMurrin, Elizabeth (Roy) Landers, Marie (Julian) Ross and Franklin (Ruth) Cotterell.David was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clifford and Franklin; four sisters: Ramona, Natalie, Elizabeth and Marie; and his wife Clelles Velna Bailey Cotterell.He graduated from American Falls High School, attended Idaho State University for two years and the College of the Pacific for three years while serving in the U.S. Navy. He served one year in naval intelligence in Hawaii during World War II and four years during the Korean War as a dental technician on board the USS Baltimore in the Mediterranean. This was followed by another two years as an instructor at the dental clinic at Naval Station Great Lakes in Great Lakes, Illinois.David married Clelles Velna Bailey June 29, 1948, in Pocatello, Idaho. They were sealed together for time and all eternity in the Logan Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 2, 1959. They were together for 60 years before Clelles' passing in 2008.They have a son, Jeffrey (Kathie) Cotterell; a daughter, Kimberlee Dent; and a deceased foster son, James (Roxanne) De Rurange.David's life work was as a professional pharmaceutical salesman with Merrell Dow pharmaceuticals for 29 years. He was also the "fix-everything" guy on his and Clelles' many real estate properties. All you had to do was say, "I'll bet you can't fix that" and in no time he found a way to get it done.David was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His testimony of his Savior never wavered. He served in many callings during his life, but his favorite calling was serving in the Boise Idaho Temple with Clelles. He had the privilege of serving as a sealer in the Temple. That blessing will continue throughout the eternities.He is survived by his son Jeffrey (Kathie) Cotterell and daughter Kimberlee (Noel) Dent; grandchildren: Kandice Cotterell, Danielle (Michelle) Cotterell, Jenica (Luke) Durrant, Abigale Cotterell, Ashlee Trebilcock, Whitnee (Miranda) Gardner-Trebilcock, David (Julie) De Rurange, Necole De Rurange and Colt Madron; and great-grandchildren: Jace and Liv Cotterell, Hank, Trey and Hope Durrant, James, Parker, Lincoln and Danny De Rurange and Ryder Smith.A viewing will be held at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 North Midland Blvd. in Nampa, Idaho on Monday, December 20, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. A brief graveside service will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 15862 South Indiana Ave. in Caldwell, Idaho..
