Walter Logan Hill, 90, passed away on July 14, 2017, at Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation, in Nampa, Idaho. He died peacefully in his sleep with his nurse, Kristan by his bedside. Walter was born on April 9, 1927. He was the 5th of 9 children. He had 3 older brothers and 3 younger brothers: Charles, Brodus, Clarence, Calvin, John, and Bob; 1 older sister and 1 younger sister: Bessie and Rachel. He was raised on a farm in Homedale, Idaho. Walter went into the Navy in 1944, when he was 17. He received an honorable discharge in 1946, after serving 2 years. When he got out of the navy, he went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad. He remained with the railroad until 1993 when he retired after 47 years. After retirement, Walter loved working in the garden and being outdoors. He loved to joke around and be silly, enjoying a life full of love and laughter. He had a passion for trains and was very spiritual in his love of the Lord. He will be missed. He met his wife, Dorothy Mae Clemens, in 1948 at the Assembly of God church. They were married on September 10, 1948, and remained together until his death. They had 4 children, 1 son and 3 daughters: Jerry, Wanda, Cheryl, and Janice. There were 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his youngest brother, Bob Hill; his son, Jerry Hill; his daughters and sons-in-law: Wanda and Larry Borchardt, Cheryl and Wayne Ellis, and Janice Hill; his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Ivory Hill; his siblings: Charles Hill, Brodus Hill, Clarence Hill, Bessie Holbert, Calvin Hill, John (Glover) Hill, and Rachel Englebert; one granddaughter, Melissa Borchardt, and one great-grandson, Jacob Hill. The funeral services will be performed by Charles "Chuck" Ellis. There will be a viewing at Zeyer Funeral Chapel on Thursday July 20, 2017 from 4 to 7 pm, after which he will be cremated. There will be a funeral service on Friday, July 28, 2017, at 10:30 am at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, followed by a military gravesite service at Hillcrest Cemetery, on Hwy 55 in Caldwell, Idaho and a potluck dinner at Liberty Park, at 4:30 pm in Nampa.
