Bill Marsh passed away at his home in Meridian, Idaho, Sunday, October 15, 2017, one month short of his 91st birthday. He was surrounded by family.Bill was born in Grand Junction, Colorado on November 19, 1926 to Margaret Sullivan Marsh and William Earnest Marsh. He was the oldest of three brothers. The family moved to Tucson, Arizona where he attended school. He served in the Navy in World War II and attended college at the University of Arizona majoring in Electrical Engineering. He worked with his father in the family business called Marsh Electric during his school and college years and for Tucson Electric Power Company during college.He was active in the Tucson Little Theater as a performer, managing the lighting, and helping backstage. He also worked at radio station KTKT as an engineer and disc jockey.He had a successful career in reliability, quality assurance, and safety systems that took him across the United States. He worked in Arizona, California, Hawaii, New Jersey, and Idaho supporting Western Electric, Astro Reliability Corporation, ARINC Research Corporation, Boeing Aerospace Operations, the US Navy, and NASA. He received the NASA Public Service Award for his contributions to the quality of the Galileo spacecraft. In addition to the Galileo spacecraft, his NASA projects also included the Hubble Telescope, the Space Station, the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy, and the Space Shuttle. In one of his last projects, he returned to his alma mater to support the University of Arizona's efforts on the OSIRIS-Rex Camera Suite for NASA. During his career, he wrote a number of standards for the Department of Defense and for NASA; many are still in use today. After he finally retired at the age of 75, he continued consulting until he was 90. At that time he launched his own business called Bill's Antique Radio Repair which he continued until his death.In addition to his passion for work, he loved to travel to visit family and to play at gambling. When he was 90 he drove to Southern California twice to be with family. His last trip was to Jackpot for one more opportunity to make a donation (as he called it) a month before he died. Although not a member, he was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and volunteered in the church library for many years.Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Sally Ann Manley Marsh. He is survived by his beloved wife Barbara Marsh; his four children: Monica Marsh, Martin Marsh, Melinda Marsh, and Michael Marsh; his brother and sister-in-law Christina and Patrick Marsh; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 20 at the Ten Mile LDS Ward Chapel, 1985 N Black Cat Rd, Meridian with a viewing from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Burial and dedication of the grave will take place at Dry Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
