Beverly Diane Sayers

Beverly "Bev" Diane Borgquist Sayers, born June 23, 1926, Salt Lake City, Utah. died November 24, 2020 in Homedale, Idaho. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Dora Vance Borgquist and Erasmus Swan Borgquist; her sisters Arline Russell and Helen Sands; her brother Neil Borquist; and her beloved husband of 43 years Thomas John Sayers Jr. She is survived by daughters Julia Taylor and Jeanne Sayers; and grandchildren: Thomas Sayers, Anneke Taylor, and Corwin Taylor. Beverly's long life was marked, above all, by service to others. As a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served the church and her fellow members with profound love and devotion. Always a "people person," she found every opportunity to help the people she encountered both inside and outside the church. She was loved by everyone whose lives she touched, everywhere she went. She delighted people with her quirky sense of humor and charmed them with her considerable beauty and sense of style--not to mention her 6'2" height! She loved to send supportive cards and notes and give small gifts, always finding a way to lift others' spirits. Beverly was raised in Tucson, Arizona and graduated from the University of Arizona, where her father was a noted professor of engineering. She pursued a career as a registered dietitian, which gave her the opportunity to work with and help many others in institutional settings. She continued her career into her '70's, working with pregnant women as part of the WIC (Women's Infants Children) program, a job she loved. Beverly married at 34, late for a woman of her generation--though she had plenty of offers. But she was very selective. After meeting Tom while she was working in Los Angeles, she finally decided he was the right one. Their relationship led to his conversion to The Church and they were subsequently married in the Los Angeles Temple on September 10, 1960. Julia was born in 1962, and Jeanne in 1966. Beverly was a devoted mother and grandmother, who strove to support her daughters and grandchildren in every way she could. Though she spent her first four decades in the West, Bev and Tom lived most of their lives together on the east coast, where Beverly was welcomed with open arms by Tom's New Jersey family. Bev came to love the East. Bev and Tom lived in Maryland, New York, Connecticut, and Delaware. With Tom's passing, Beverly relocated to Idaho in 2003 to be near her daughter Jeanne and grandson Thomas as well as her niece Sheila Brinton and family, who was a great support to her in her final years.
