Florence "LuJean" Graf

Florence "Lujean" H. Graf died peacefully in her Caldwell, Idaho home on January 1, 2020. She was 95 years old. Lujean was born April 8, 1924 in Cornish, Cache Valley, Utah to William Wallace and Synthia Florence Hogge, the only daughter in the family of ten. Her family moved to Burley, Idaho where Lujean graduated from Burley High School, class of 1941. Following graduation, she moved to California to attend Junior College as tuition was free. She became homesick and moved back to Burley. She then worked for a government agency until she got an office position at the Ogden Arsenal plant in Ogden, Utah. She became homesick again, and moved back to Burley. She then worked at the Idaho Bank and Trust, and met and married Richard Graf. They eventually bought a farm In Heyburn, Idaho and farmed organically for the next 50+ years, while raising their five children. At the age of 52, Lujean chose to go back to school and get a nursing license. Lujean, believing one is never too old to learn, became a Licensed Practical Nurse, and worked on the Med/Surg and OB/Surg units at Cassia Memorial hospital for the next 10 years. Lujean had much compassion for others, always wanting to help, and with a smile on her face. Lujean's favorite thing to do was vacation in San Francisco with her daughter Connie for 13 years in a row. She had many adventures flying to California, riding on her scooter at Fisherman's Wharf, sight-seeing the Golden Gate bridge, getting lost on foot in downtown San Francisco, riding the subway, driving through the Redwoods, and the many walks and sunsets on her favorite beach Rockaway Beach in Pacifica, California. She felt like she was in paradise each time. At home, Lujean enjoyed early morning workouts on her treadmill until she was 93 years old, walking 20 to 45 minutes each morning. She loved working 1000-piece puzzles that she did weekly, was an avid reader, enjoyed shopping and going to restaurants, attended weekly church services at Eastside Baptist church in Twin Falls, but most of all enjoyed every visit with her 66 plus children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Lujean brought some of the best examples to the family a person can bring: honesty, integrity, decency, sweetness, gratitude, love, and laughter. She was a great example to her family and her legacy will carry on through the generations. Lujean lived by the Golden Rule "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Lujean is survived by her five children: Rich (Nancy) Graf of Richland, WA, Bruce (Judy) Graf of Twin Falls, Steve (Joleen) Graf of Heyburn, Dan (Julie) Graf of Hailey, and Connie Larson of Caldwell; 16 grandchildren, 48 great-children, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Lujean's wishes were to be cremated and to have no services. The family would love to give a big Shout-Out to St. Luke's Home Health and Hospice for all the love, care, and support from the nurses, chaplains, aides, volunteers, social workers, and doctors who worked around the clock to make sure Lujean died comfortably and peacefully in her home, with her family by her side. Lujean will be greatly missed. Final arrangements by Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa. 208-467-7300. Condolences may be expressed at ZeyerFuneralChapel.com.
