Phyllis Thornton

Phyllis Thornton born May 15, 1926 at Woodville, Idaho, slipped away gracefully to the heavens on February 26, 2019, with her son Steve and family by her side. She lived a long life filled with many experiences. Phyllis was born in Woodvale, Idaho May 15, 1926. She was the 1st of four girls born to Everett and Ella Langley. She moved from Idaho to Washington and California ending back in Idaho 1969 until the time of her death. Phyllis had two sons, Daniel Brooks and Stephen Kelsch. Her sense of humor was one thing that helped her through many situations. For the past few years she looked forward to Wednesdays, a day of shopping and out to lunch with her son, Steve... which she happily called, "Mother's Day" Phyllis was a woman who loved to cook. She made the best Christmas candies and cookies. Another thing she was famous for were her homemade sticky buns and hockey pucks, which she gave away very proudly. With the help of her granddaughter, Becca, she made and gave away cookies and candies this past Christmas. Phyllis certainly wanted to pass on her and her mother's recipes to Becca, carrying on the family traditions. She also spent many hours with a crochet hook in hand, completing about 187 baby blankets over the past 10 years. Phyllis was a TOPS member for approximately 40 years, where she met many friends. Phyllis was preceded in death by her father and mother; sister Joy Cornell; niece Sue Ernest; grandson Jake Kelsch in 2018. She is survived by her sons Daniel (Wilma) Brooks and Stephen (Jacki) Kelsch; grandchildren: Renee (Gary) Goekin, Mitch (Kim) Brooks, Kelly Kelsch, Rebecca (Mike) Alker; great-grandchildren: Grace and Gloree Goekin, Mikhael and Arabelle Alker, Lyla Kelsch; her sisters and their families Maxcine (Glen) Ernest, Kay Wallace; niece and nephews: Gary (Sherry) Gates, Marsha (Ken) Overstreet, Bruce (Ellen) Gates and their extended families. A family graveside services will be held at Kohlerlawn Cemetery in Nampa, ID on April 13, 2019.
