On May 19, 2020, at the age of 96, Leonard Dale Main went home to be with the Lord.Leonard was born in Benkelman, Nebraska on November 2, 1923 to Glenn and Ella Main.He joined the Army at the age of 18 and served in WWII. He fought at the battle of Iwo Jima and it was there in a fox hole that he gave his heart to the Lord. After the war, he attended SAGU Bible College in Waxahachie, Texas. After graduating, he moved to California. He worked for Robbins Distributing Company for 24 years, during which time, he was a lay pastor preaching in many churches throughout San Bernardino, California.In September of 1970, he married Rita Howard and they made their home in Rialto. He started a roofing business and retired in 1982.A fond memory is of Leonard and Rita delivering newspapers to the High Desert area of Southern, California and they would always stop for ice cream.Leonard and Rita moved to Nampa, Idaho in 1992. They started attending the Domes First Assembly of God church in Caldwell, Idaho. He held Senior bible classes and prayer meetings weekly at the church for 9 years.He was a member of the DAV Chapter One serving as Chaplin and Treasurer. Leonard also volunteered for CCOA helping seniors with Honey-do jobs. He drove Veterans from Canyon County to the VA Hospital in Boise for their appointments. He is survived by Rita, his wife of 50 years, his children Sherri, Kent, Mark, Kathy, David and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.The family wishes to thank the staff at Wellsprings of Cascadia and Keystone Hospice for their special care of Leonard.
