Our Beloved mother and grandmother, Margaret Esther Svedin Holliday Sweet Lyons went to heaven to be with her family at the age of almost 99. Margaret led a full and exciting life as a young woman, wife and mother and as a grandmother toa large posterity that thought she was their angel. She was born on March 31, 1923, to Anthon and Isabel Farmer Svedin in Nampa, Idaho. She was so small they put her in a shoebox to keep her warm. Her older sisters, Lois and Ileen adored their little sister. Much later, two brothers Robert and LeRoy joined the family. She grew up during the depression years. Esther remembers, when hobos would come to the farm, Isabel would always give them a good, home-cooked meal. She met John D. Holliday in high school and fell in love at first sight. They were married in 1942 and spent six months together before he was drafted into WWII. 18 months later, as a young marine, he perished on Iwa Jima. Esther then served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Texas Southern States Mission, Spanish speaking. After her mission she met a returned, dashing, and decorated Marine, Mark Duane Sweet. To this blessed union were born five children, four boys and on girl. Poor girl! They moved around a lot with Mark's job but always considered Nampa home. Esther was a talented artist and loved to draw and paint with all of the different mediums. She took art classes until she was 90. She created some incredibly beautiful paintings that are treasured by her family. She also loved to dress fashionably an especially loved scarves. She grew heritage zinnias in her garden and loved sharing her harvested seeds with anyone who asked. She also served two more missions with her husband Mark, one to New Zealand and one to Costa Rica/Texas. When Mark passed away in 2001, Esther later met and married a kind man, Reed Rock Lyons in 2003. They had many travel adventures together before Reed passed away in 2019. All who knew her knew that her greatest joy in life was her large, loving family.Esther is survived by Duane Sherman (Tracy) Sweet of Nampa, Mark Roy (Mary) Sweet of Nampa, Kelly John Sweet of McMinneville, OR, and DeAnna LaRie (Gale) Sweet-Pooley of Laie, Hawaii.
