Norma Gregersen Taylor

Norma G. Taylor of Kuna, Idaho passed away at age 95 of natural causes on March 5, 2018. She was born in Magna, Utah to Marcus J. and Eunice E. Doxford Gregersen on November 9, 1922. Norma was the second child of five children. As a child, Norma was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint. During her lifetime she served faithfully in numerous church positions including leadership in the woman's organization. Associating with the women in the LDS Church and serving in the Relief Society gave her much happiness. She rendered help and service to family, friends, neighbors and loved doing so. Norma was very intelligent and due to her intellect skipped two grades in school. At the age of 16 she married Percil Talbot in the Logan LDS Temple. Sadly, she became a widow when she was 18 years old. Inspired by her brother, Marvin Gregersen, Norma followed in his foot steps and acquired her pilot's license at the Preston, Idaho airport. She desired to fly medical supplies for the military to help the soldiers during World War II but a position failed to open before the war ended. After the war, she married Leon E. Taylor on March 9, 1946 in Logan, Utah. In 1988 the marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Shortly after their marriage Norma and Leon moved to the Boise Valley. Later they established a home in Meridian and Norma gave birth to their four children: Greg, Debbie, Erik, and Karla. Together, Leon and Norma started and built a successful insurance business in Meridian. Norma worked in the office and provided excellent assistance. They also acquired numerous family farms including farms in Meridian, Idaho, Kuna, Idaho and Battle Mountain, Nevada. In 1976 they moved from Meridian to Kuna where they finished rearing their two youngest children; Erik and Karla. They enjoyed the Kuna area where they eventually retired. Norma was an excellent cook, enjoyed working outdoors in her roses and grew an amazing vegetable garden. She avidly canned the items produced and each year filled her pantry with preserved foods. Her diligent work provided the family with delicious bottled fruits and vegetables all year long. She was a competent seamstress and for relaxation enjoyed painting, especially landscapes. Norma delighted in a well-kept house and yard. Because she was a child who grew up in the Great Depression, Norma learned to be frugal and lived by the motto, "waste not, want not." She was not afraid of hard work. Years did not dim her sense of humor nor her love for family and friends. The greatest joy in her life was her family. Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Taylor; a daughter, Debbie Burris; her parents and two brothers. She is survived by her children: Greg Taylor (Carleen) of Cedaredge, Colorado, Erik Taylor (Kristine) of Battle Mountain, Nevada, Karla Taylor of Kuna, Idaho, Harry Burris (Son-in-law) of Nampa, Idaho; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother Max Gregersen (Velma) of Rigby, Idaho and a sister Gloria Praegitzer (Dick) of Meridian, Idaho. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 10 in the LDS Chapel located at 8625 S. Linder Road in Kuna, Idaho. You may visit with the family at the church from 9:45a.m to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be at the Kuna Cemetery. Arrangements by Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa. 208-467-7300.
