Kathryn Albiston Hurren, 95, passed away September 11, 2017.Kathryn was born September 18, 1921, in College Ward, Cache County, Utah. Daughter of Wilford James Albiston and Edith Olsen Albiston. Kathryn was married, March 22, 1944, to William Keith Hurren, (born August 5, 1914), who preceded her in death. She is survived by one of six sisters, Alice (Clark) Nielsen and one of three brothers, Steven Lavar (Karma) Albiston; three children: Carolyn (Gene) Hill, Douglas Keith (Paula) Hurren, and Diane (Dick) Jones. The Hurrens dairy farmed in Amalga, Utah, Star, Idaho and Kuna, Idaho. Active in her LDS faith she gave service in Young Women organizations, and the Relief Society. Many meals were prepared and served; much compassionate service was given. Much produce was grown in their garden and given to family, friends and neighbors. With assistance from her family and good neighbors Kathryn was able to live alone in her Kuna residence for over 10 years until moving to Spring Creek Place, Assisted Living. It takes a lot of courage to live alone out in the country. Kathryn was an active child, growing up during "the depression", and WWII. From childhood she learned the value of hard work and frugality. Her track ribbons were prized possessions. She will be remembered fondly for her home caning, homemade cloths and a multitude of quilts. Assisted Living was not easy for a very independent person. Many thanks to the management and staff of Spring Creek Place, nurses with Compassus Hospice Care, good old friends from Kuna, who visited often, and wonderful Church members who cared for and visited Kathryn regularly.Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 16, at the Kuna Cemetery, 1321 Boise St. in Kuna. Arrangements by Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa. 208-467-7300. Condolences may be expressed at zeyerfuneralchapel.com.Kathryn's life has blessed many people, especially her family. We will miss her until we meet again.
