Lloyd Elmo Swaim died December 11, 2021. He was born March 5, 1921, in Unionville, Iowa to William Clyde and Eithel Cross Swaim. He had three siblings: Audrey, Floyd (his twin brother) and Glendowyn. He met his wife, Hazel M Toughmiller at the Wheatland, Wyoming Church of the Nazarene. They were married March 5, 1941, in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska.They lived in the Wheatland area where their two daughters (Bonnie Jean and Winnifred Kay) were born along with one baby boy that died at birth. Lloyd worked as a ranch help and later had a Hereford cattle ranch.Lloyd served in the Army and was stationed in Saipan and Guam toward the end of WWII. After his military service the family moved to Nampa, Idaho where he attended Northwest Nazarene College. He graduated in 1954. He returned the next year to get a teaching certificate. He then taught school and did so for 23 years in Idaho and Oregon.Lloyd became a Christian as a teen and dedicated his life to living for Jesus. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene for 85 years in Wyoming, Idaho, and Oregon. He pastored two churches, one in Harper, Oregon and the other in New Bridge, Oregon. He also helped build 10 churches in the Northwest.Lloyd is survived by his daughter Winnifred Bruderold; a grandson Matt Hine; and son-in-law Maynard Hine; and his sister Glendowyn Broomfield. He was preceded in death by his wife Hazel Swim, daughter Bonnie Hine, baby Swaim; his parents Clyde and Eithel Swaim, sister Audrey Hessling, and his brother Floyd Swaim. In lieu of flowers, donations my be made to the Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho to the Lloyd and Hazel Swaim Endowment scholarship fund.Services will be announced soon.
