Ruby Dean Rowan was born on November 10, 1941 to Ola and Oscar King. Ruby passed away Tuesday January 28, 2020 in Nampa, Idaho. Ruby was born in Muleshoe Texas. Her mother gave birth to her the old-fashioned way, in a small farmhouse in the country. There was no hospital, doctors or nurses, just a midwife and loving family. After a few years in Muleshoe she moved to Hereford, Texas where she spent the majority of her childhood. By her mid-teens the family had moved to Lompoc, California. There she saw the love of her life Horace Wesley Rowan. When she saw his Marine uniform she made up her mind that she would marry him. Of course she got her way and married him on Saint Valentine's Day in 1959. They tied the knot at the Lompoc Assembly of God church. Their friend and mentor, the Reverend Eperson, officiated over the ceremony. Ruby was a stay-at-home mom for the most part in Lompoc. There they raised their four children. After Horace retired in 2005 they moved to Nampa, Idaho to be closer to their grandkids. They both lived there until their passing. Ruby was known for her kindness and her laughter. She especially loved kids and playfully picked on them. Mom loved her children and grandchildren more than anything. In her last days her prayer was to have one more holiday season with her family especially her grandkids. The Lord granted that prayer plus 28 days. Ruby had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to hear funny stories about her grandchildren. She was known for her long-suffering and acceptance for those she loved. She was a loyal loving friend and charitable person. She could be found cleaning the church without the need to be noticed, often doing the job nobody else wanted and others took for granted. Ruby loved to talk and had an outgoing personality. She also knew when to listen quietly. When someone was down and out her simple wisdom was from the heart yet extremely effective. She never was the kind of person to say I told you so. Ruby left this world peacefully surrounded by her family and her best friend Shirley by her side. She gave her life to Jesus at a young age and passed with Jesus in her heart. Now looking down from heaven she looks forward to the day when she will be reunited with her loved ones. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents Oscar King and Ola Mae King; and her oldest brother that died as a toddler. (He will always be known as "Little William".); her brothers: Jimmy King, Oscar King Jr, and Robert King: her husband Horace; and a daughter Carolyn Denise Cruse. She is survived by her children: Wesley Dean Rowan (Annmarie), Connie Sue Rowan, and Eric Preston Rowan (Tanya); as well as her sisters Wanda Murphy and OlaMae Okur; and brothers Clarence King and Roy King. She also had nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren with one great-great granddaughter to be born in March. Services will be held at 11:00 p.m., Friday, February 7, at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd in Nampa.
