Rev. Lowell Leroy Foster, age 97, passed away peacefully March 1, 2024 at Park Place Assisted Living, Nampa, Idaho. He was born at home on May 15, 1926 to Glen and Alice Foster near Gering, Nebraska. After graduation, with WW II raging, he joined the Merchant Marines. His ship was headed to Japan when they received the news that the war was over, and he was shipped home. After arriving home he had a lack of direction and often heard his Godly mother praying for his soul. Later, being reunited with his former pastor, Rev. Alva Turner in Idaho he gave his heart to God. He met Nola Connerley at a youth gathering. They were married June 2, 1948 and were happily married 72 years until her passing in November 2020.After fighting the call to preach, he finally yielded to God and began to prepare for the ministry. He became an ordained minister in the early 1950’s and pastored Holiness churches in Iowa, Oregon, and Idaho during his ministry. He also did evangelistic work and traveled with Nola and four children. He started a church in Jamestown, N.D. and while there the fifth Foster child arrived. Later he returned to the evangelistic field and began holding revival meetings and camps. In 1966, he answered the call to pastor in Emmett, Idaho where the family was able to establish roots, make lifelong friends, and in 1968, the sixth Foster child arrived. After resigning the Emmett Church he became the District Leader for the Northwest District of the Bible Missionary Church and traveled all over Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. Later, he resumed evangelistic work in the United States and was also able to spend some time in London doing the work of the Lord. In 1975, he founded a church in a 7-Eleven building in Nampa which has evolved into Grace Bible Church. After getting up in years, he began a weekly ministry at a local assisted living facility. Lowell and Nola took this ministry very seriously and made a huge difference in the lives of many residents and made new friends. He also began a mail ministry and sent articles he had written to many, many people. He was a dedicated, old fashioned Holiness preacher for over 70 years who had the capability to say a lot with few words. He was compassionate and full of wisdom. He continued ministering to those around him at Park Place Assisted Living until his passing. He is greatly missed, but is enjoying walking the streets of gold and sitting at the feet of Jesus whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Nola, son Larry, an older brother, Bruce and younger sister, Alice. He is survived by five children: Linda Pinkston (Dale), Steve Foster (Patty), Troy Foster, Delene James (Lonnye), and Larissa Stoudamire (Rodney). 12 grandchildren and spouses, 18 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends.A viewing will be held on Friday, the 15th from 6 – 8 p.m. at Zeyer Funeral Chapel located at 83 N.
