Lawrence Butterfield

Lawrence Del Butterfield (Larry), 79, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024, to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ where he was relieved from vascular dementia. He was born to Dorothy and Oscar Butterfield in Long Beach, California on January 1, 1945. Lawrence was raised by Dorothy and Julius Chastain. Lawrence was the 2nd of 4 brothers: Barney Butterfield, Julius Chastain and Paul Chastain. Larry loved the Lord with all his heart, mind and soul. He was a member of the Foursquare Church where he served as an elder for Montalvo Foursquare Church. He devoted his life and brought up his family to serve and love the Lord. His family were ministers and pastors in Torrance, California. His grandma even started a church in Alaska. Lawrence joined the United States Marine Corp where he was stationed at Camp Pendleton as a Wireman Radio Operator. He was honorably discharged and spent five years in the reserves. Lawrence married his loving wife Shirley Butterfield on January 1st in Las Vegas. They were married for 57 years. She cared for him daily in his disease clear to the end of life. Larry and Shirley met while she waitressed at Bob’s Big Boy in Torrance, California. He always supported all the family and was an amazing husband and father to their four children. Larry loved the outdoors. He took his family on many adventures where all six would pack into the camper and enjoy wherever they went. Camping along the Colorado River in Blythe while they hunted for dove to walking the mountain ranges of Jawbone Canyon in the Mojave Desert hunting quail and chukar. Riding the Honda Trail 90 to fishing for Calico Bass in a little boat name Annadel off the breakwaters of the Oxnard and Port Hueneme Harbors. Many times hearing just one more time around the backside and then we will go home. We would then fall asleep under the bow on top of the life jackets. He also loved his music from Country to the Oldies but Goodies. The Eagles to Elvis Presley. He loved to dance and enjoy life. Larry and Shirley built a successful Plumbing Contracting company called Chastain Plumbing in Ventura, California. Their business grew in the home where all in the family participated in answering the company phone. He was excellent and well known in the community for his work ethic and his expertise in the plumbing trade. He taught his trade to his son where another company was started in Idaho. Lawrence and Shirley sold their home in Ventura, California and moved to Nampa, Idaho to be closer to their children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Butterfield; children: Lawrence Butterfield Jr, Shelly Real, Suzanne Moore and Stephanie Stiles; four grandsons: Brandon Real, Taylor Stiles, Lawrence Butterfield III, and Ivar Moore Jr; three Granddaughters, Ashley Waggoner, Carlie Moore & Roxy Moore; and two great grandchildren, Luis Real and Wyatt Real. Graveside services are Friday March 22,2024 @ 1:00pm located at Kohlerlawn Cemetery, 76 6th St. N, Nampa, ID 83607. Late lunch provided directly following at Caldwell Christian Church. 3207 E Ustick Rd, Caldwell, ID 83605.
