Yvonne F. Hyer, 99, passed away peacefully at her home in Nampa, Idaho, on April 19, 2024.Our mother, Yvonne Fabricius Hyer, was born in Newton, Utah, on January 24,1925 the eldest child of Knute and Orpah Rigby Fabricius. Their small family was complete with the arrival of mom’s sister, Nellene (Hancey) and her brother, Rodney Knute Fabricius.She attended Newton Elementary School and North Cache High before graduating from Davis High. Because of World War II, and while going to school at Davis High, she and her mother lived in a rented room in Ogden. They worked at Hill Air Force Base, Grandma in the supply warehouse and Momma as a messenger.She later heard of another job opportunity and went to work at the Army Supply Depot 2nd Street in Ogden, running a multigraph offset printer, printing forms, letterhead, etc. for use at the Depot.From early 1947 to the fall of 1948, she served as a missionary in the Western States Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She met her future husband, Wendel Clare Hyer there, while they were both serving in the same mission.She and Clare dated and later sealed their love in the Logan Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 10, 1949. They began married life in Lewiston, Utah, and spent one short year in Cokeville, Wyoming, before returning to Lewiston. They were blessed with 8 children, 5 girls and 3 boys. Clare worked for the Amalgamated Sugar Company at the Lewiston plant until it was closed in 1972 and the family moved to Nampa, Idaho, where he took a position with the same company and continued to work there until his retirement in April of 1987.Our parents were both very active in their faith and served in many capacities locally. In 1988-1989 they served for 18 months in the Dallas Texas Mission. They also served as ordinance workers in the Boise Idaho Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for several years until their health no longer permitted it. In her 92nd year, she accepted a call to teach Sunday School to the 14- & 15-year-olds. She worried about being relevant but enjoyed her interaction with the youth very much. Mom was a loving mother and housewife and together with Dad, they raised responsible and hard-working children. They had two foster sons, Lawrence and Peter Lone Elk, who lived in their home during their teenage years.She is survived by her children: Cathy (Edgardo)Rodriguez, Joelle (Gaylin) Sharp, Daniel (Pam) Hyer, Becky (Courtney) Tuft, Mark (Debbie) Hyer, Susan (Denis) Hendricks, and Matt (Trudi) Hyer; 36 grandchildren; 85 great grandchildren; and 3 great, great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings; in-laws; husband; a daughter, Jane; a son-in-law Gaylin Sharp; a grandson Justin Hyer; and two foster sons, Lawrence and Peter Lone Elk.The funeral services are under the direction of Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N. Midland Blvd, Nampa, ID. There will be a viewing at Zeyer Funeral Chapel from 6-8PM on Friday, April 26, 2024. The funeral service will be held 11:00AM Saturday, April 27th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 18463 Northside Blvd. A viewing will be held from 10-10:45AM prior to the service. Interment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Caldwell, directly following the service.
