Kevin Jeppsen

Kevin Dean Jeppsen was born to Bryce and Karen Jeppsen on October 25, 1980, in Boise, Idaho, the sixth of their seven children. He had three older brothers: Rob, Bryan, and Scott, two sisters: Kellie and Julie. His little brother, Ben, would be added nearly three years later. Kevin was a happy, adventurous child. He was creative in his play (as a toddler, he liked the feel of mashed potatoes in his hair), and he loved making and building things. Kevin enjoyed his cub scout years, especially the pinewood derbies, bike rodeos, and campouts. He continued earning badges during his scouting years and became an Eagle Scout. Kevin enjoyed playing sports as he grew up: soccer, baseball, and basketball. During high school, he was on the tennis team until he broke his leg skiing. The ordeal of the bumpy ride in the back of the Bronco while Bryan drove his brothers and sisters from Bogus Basin to the hospital in Boise was something none of them would ever forget. Kevin graduated from Meridian High School in 1999 and attended a semester at BYU-Idaho before he was called to serve as a missionary in the California Carlsbad Mission. He enjoyed serving in sunny Southern California from February 2000 to February 2002. His mission gave him an even firmer foundation of principles, which he maintained throughout his life.  When he returned home, Kevin got a job at Office Depot, and it was there that he met a pretty co-worker named Melissa. As they got better acquainted, Kevin introduced her to his faith and the principles he had been teaching for two years. In September of 2002, he baptized her as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and in October of 2003, they were married in the Boise Temple. They were both working and continuing their education at Boise State University. Their family gradually grew as three precious children were born: Isabelle in February 2006; Connor in July 2008; and curly-haired Katelyn in August 2010.  Kevin was a caring and devoted father. He loved playing games with his kids, reading to them, and taking them on many camping trips. After his divorce, he always continued to be their #1 fan, attending their concerts, watching them play soccer, and later, always on the sidelines during their tennis matches. It was important to him that they be taught the principles of the gospel, and he gave them a great example to follow in trying to live a good Christian life. Kevin’s favorite holiday was Halloween. Having a birthday in late October, all his parties had a Halloween theme. As a dad, he carried on the Jeppsen tradition of fun, scary Halloween house decorations. He loved helping his brother Scott create the best, scariest Halloweens in town!  Kevin had a talent for understanding things from the inside out and was good at fixing whatever needed to be repaired. He was a very willing volunteer to provide help, wherever or whenever it was needed. As his father’s health failed in the past several years, he was an indispensable help to his mother, providing care for his dad and taking care of her home and yard.  Kevin’s favorite place to be was in the mountains, camping with his children and extended family. He also loved spending time with his good friends, who had been his buddies since his youth. His basic kindness, fun-loving personality, unique laugh, and sense of humor made him a great friend who will always be remembered.  Kevin was devoted to his faith and served in teaching and leadership assignments throughout his life. Although he had many health challenges, he never allowed them to prevent him from being there for his kids or from helping others. His life was cut short by a brain hemorrhage at the age 43. He passed away at home on April 27, 2024. He is survived by his children, Isabelle, Connor, and Katelyn, who were the greatest treasures of his life; his mother, Karen Jeppsen; and his four brothers and two sisters. He will be greatly missed. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2024, at the LDS meetinghouse at 6111 Birch Lane in Nampa. There will be no visitation prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Meridian Cemetery.
