Sidney Buck passed from this life on Friday, June 28, 2024, aged 90 years, at the Boise Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center, where he received the best care and kindness from their devoted staff.Sid was born on July 3, 1933, at Smithfield, Utah, to Clarence Bennington Buck and Martha Rosezella Jacobsen, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by two siblings, Clarence Joseph Buck and Natalie Jane Buck (Clark), as well as four children, Sid Lawrence Buck, Tammy Lynn Buck, Trey Courtland Buck, and Beau Bruigel Buck; two grandchildren, Sydney Ann Williams and Malcom Ogden Stroshine; and a son-in-law, James Marshall Woods.Sid was a tirelessly dedicated father. His surviving children are Candy Colette Buck (James Woods), Kitty Michele Buck (Brian Forbush), Bunny Bianca Buck, Jason Ogden Buck (Roxi Orr), Lilli Lafawn Buck (Steve Williams), and Wendy Rochele Buck. He was a loving husband to Betty Hendershot (Dufur) Buck, whom he married on February 7, 2009, and shared many years of hard work and memories. Sid enjoyed farming, which provided the life he wanted for his children. At one time, he was self-employed, hauling logs to a lumber mill, where he would stop at lunchtime and take his children to half-moon lake to swim. He once bought a truck so he and his children could “buck hay” in the summer. He loved his children dearly. He gave a friendly smile to all and never spoke ill of others. He had a fearless testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and loved to share it. The memory of Sid Buck will be kept bright by those who survive him, and the manly qualities of his head and heart will be remembered and imitated.Sid will be honored during a funeral service on July 9, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Homedale Chapel, at 10 a.m. There will also be a viewing at 9 a.m. The graveside ceremony following the funeral will be at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Nampa, Idaho.
