F. Dale Brown

Dale Brown was born on September 12, 1929, in Shelby County, Missouri, the middle child of Samuel and Blanche (Wilson) Brown. Dale was a graduate of Clarence High School in Clarence, MO, and attended Central College in Fayette, Missouri. Dale was married to Betty Hovey on March 21, 1950, in Chicago, IL. They are the proud parents of Peggy, Cynthia, Nancy, and Steven. Dale is survived by his children Peggy (Dennis) Hale, Nancy (Paul) Davoust, and Steven (Sandy) Brown; five grandchildren, Stephen, Daniel, Matthew, Jonathan, and Natalie; nieces Judy Lorezel and Rhonda Darnell; and nephew Richard Stolte, among many other cousins and friends. Dale was preceded in death by his wife Betty, daughter Cynthia, his parents Samuel and Blanche, his brother Stanley, his sister Jane Stolte, and all of his aunts and uncles. Dale worked for General Telephone & Electronics for 30 years, mostly in and around Jacksonville, IL. Dale was active in local organizations most of his adult life. He was a city councilman, president and LT Governor of the Kiwanis Club, chair of the Morgan County housing board, and chair of the statewide GTE Political Action Committee. After moving to California, Dale served on the Humboldt County Planning Commission and became active in the local rock hounding club, Humboldt Gem and Mineral, helping to build a new building for the rock club in Arcata, CA. Many fun times were spent rock-hounding in remote regions of the west. Dale was also a lifelong Mason. In retirement, Dale and Betty followed their children to California, West Virginia, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Idaho. Dale continued to serve on several boards and committees and was a proud Republican—most of the time. Family was his top priority in life. Most years included cross-country road trips to visit aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, children, and friends. A game of bridge was his favorite pastime. Dale and Betty attended the Community of Christ Church for over 60 years. At Dale's request, there will be no funeral, but rather a celebration of life. A remembrance celebration will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, July 19, 2024 at Zeyer Funeral Chapel located at 83 N. Midland Blvd. in Nampa, ID. Afterward, at 2:00 PM, a luncheon reception will be held at the home of Peggy and Dennis Hale, 11286 Coyote Cove, Nampa, ID 83686 (208) 899-8289.
