Roger Davenport

Roger Duane Davenport, known affectionately as Duane, passed away on July 29, 2024 at the age of 57, just shy of 58 by 9 days in Homedale Idaho from dementia caused by radiation that he had as a child when he had a brain tumor, it first showed up at age 6 and then went into remission until it came back again when he was 12 years old. Duane was born on August 7, 1966, in Nampa Idaho to Roger and Jane Davenport. He was the oldest of 4 of children, 2 sisters from his parents and another sister from his dad and his wife. Duane graduated from Caldwell High School and then attended BSU where he met Kristi Weiskircher, they were married for 21 years and had 2 beautiful daughters before divorcing. Duane spent many years working as a security officer, he also worked as a janitor and did other odd jobs, even delivering pizzas for a while. He also graduated from Pharmacy Tech School. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a few years ago was finally able to be sealed to his mom, stepdad and his sisters, Shelly and Amanda. Beyond working and spiritual commitments, Duane had a passion for woodworking, a hobby that allowed him to express his creativity and craftmanship. He loved making pens, cutting boards, bowls, and also made lamps, vases, a desk or two and a beautiful Grandfather clock, which he made while still in High School. Duane loved spending time with his family, who were the cornerstone of his life. He loved bowling, watching movies, loved animals, he had several pets through the years, his latest was his dog Lucy, whom he loved so much. Duane had a zest for life and never gave up trying to live his best life, despite health challenges. Duane is survived by his daughters, Sara Hoover (Brant), Ashley Davenport (Anthony Sorensen), his grandchildren, Easton, Jackson, Waylon, Owen, Savannah and another one on the way, his mother, Jane Sorensen, Step-dad Gary, sisters, Shelly Kahle (Jeremy), Amanda Campbell (Paul), and Taylor Davenport, along with numerous other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Davenport, both sets of grandparents, and 2 of his aunts. The family would like to thank Owyhee Health and Rehab for taking such good care of Duane during his final months, the staff and residents all were awesome and treated him like family. Duane’s viewing will be held Sunday, August 4th from 6pm to 7:30pm at Zeyer Funeral Chapel in Nampa, Idaho. There will be a graveside service the following day Monday, August 5th at 10am at the Rosedale Cemetery in Payette Idaho.
