On August 11, 2024, Carol Mae Christensen, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, peacefully passed away at the age of 90. Carol was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1933, in Tremonton, UT. Her mother joyfully referred to her as the family’s “Christmas Carol.” She attended Bear River High School, where she excelled in English and grammar. She also participated in the school’s Acapella Choir and Glee Club, cultivating a life-long passion for singing and performance. She married Stanford “Dee” Christensen on November 20, 1952, and together they raised five children and several foster children. Carol was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and treasured opportunities to serve her family, friends, and community. A story is told in the family that one day, while Carol was assisting with food preparation for a church event, a homeless man approached, pleading for a meal. The group turned him away. When Carol found out, she ran after the man, brought him back, and fed him, stating, “Never turn away a person who is hungry.” This story beautifully illustrates Carol’s compassionate and generous approach to life. She opened her home and her heart to those around her and never denied a person in need. Carol had a creative streak and possessed a talent for quilting, writing poetry, and singing. She was an avid bowler, competing in several state tournaments, and two national tournaments. A true competitor, she enjoyed playing games and cards with her family, and she had a flair for crossword puzzles. Carol was known for her playful sense of humor, sensitive heart, and generous nature. Carol was preceded in death by the love of her life, Dee Christensen, and is survived by her children: Rebecca (Larry), Jeff (Pam), Greg, Kari (Rick), and Todd (Sandra); 19 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and sister Helen Barrett. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 23 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 22284 SW Grahams Ferry Road in Tualatin, Oregon, with a viewing from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. prior to the services.
