Charles Roscoe Pridgen II October 29, 1950 – August 25, 2024 Charles was born in El Paso, Texas to Charles Roscoe Pridgen and Alice Marjorie Pridgen Being part of a United States Airforce family Charles traveled the world as a youth. He spent 2 years in Germany and 4 years in Japan as a young boy. Charles then moved to Long Island New York where he worked as a newspaper carrier at the age of 13. Charles moved with his family to Colorado Springs in 1965. Charles attended and graduated from Harrison High School in 1968. Charles attended Colorado State University for 2 years where he studied Business Management. In the summer of 1970 Charles served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Charles served in London England. Charles loved his mission and always spoke fondly of it. “I learned to love the people” he said. Charles enlisted into the United States Air Force in August of 1972. He served as a medic in Lubbock, Texas until August of 1973 when he was honorably discharged. Charles then moved to Salt Lake City where he met Susan Wintle and they were married October 27, 1973. They had six children together. The family moved to Green River, Wyoming and spent 14 years there. Charles worked for Exxon as a chief timekeeper. Charles also worked as a maintenance supervisor at a 35 acre mall in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Charles also worked for himself as a carpet cleaner. He talked of sometimes taking his children with him to clean. “That Frances was a good little worker” Charles and Susan were divorced in 1999. Charles moved to Nampa, Idaho, in the early 2000s to be closer to family. In the summer of 2006 Charles met Deborah Curtis on LDSMingle. Charles and Deborah were married September 25, 2007. Charles moved to Port Angeles, Washington and lived there with Deborah for 17 years. Charles had many hobbies. Charles loved to sit on the back porch and feed the birds. He spent hours learning how to identify birds both by sight and sound. Charles loved US history and politics. Charles was an avid US coin collector and enjoyed telling the history behind the coins he collected. Charles created the Port Angeles Coin Club that is still meeting today. Charles was bi-polar and understood the battles of mental illness. Charles wanted to help others and served on the board of NAMI of Clallam County for several years. Charles had a great love of music. As a youth and beyond he had a great passion for the Beatles. Charles knew many facts about the band, about their songs. He once attended a Beatles tribute concert and knew every lyric even of the more obscure songs. Spotify was his most used app on his phone. In his twilight years he gravitated toward country music and discovered the King of Country, George Strait. He would say “You don’t stop George Strait until the song is done” As Charlie developed more and more health complications music became a lifeline. Many a day he would lay down and listen to his music as it was a balm for his soul and mind. Charles’ greatest love was for his family and the gospel of Jesus Christ. Charles served in many callings over the years including Sunday School President, Gospel principles teacher, and was branch mission leader for over 10 years at the Joyce Branch in Port Angeles. He also served over 5 years as mission leader for Lincoln Park Ward in Port Angeles. Charles will always be remembered for his sense of humor, his smile, and the twinkle in his eye. Charles was preceded in death by his father Charles Roscoe Pridgen I(2023), by his mother Alice Marjorie Jernigan (2015), and by nephew James Stewart Ryans, Jr. (2021) brother Joseph Allen Pridgen (2008), brother Jerry Lee Pridgen (1985) Charles is survived by his wife Deborah Ann Pridgen of Port Angeles, Washington, his step-daughters Aimee Fleming of Port Angeles and Caitlin Barnes of Austin, Texas and his sister Sharon Annette (Tom) Stott of Green River, Wyoming, his nephew Jerry Michael Stott of Murray, Utah, niece Jamie Lea Pridgen of Calhan, Colorado, niece Eden Johnson of New Bern, North Carolina, niece April Melodie Powell (Pridgen) of Las Vegas, Nevada Charles is survived by his children Anessa Carolyn (James) Reed of Sidney, Montana, Frances Elizabeth Pridgen of Nampa, Idaho, Crystal Marie Pridgen of Nampa, Idaho, Charles Roscoe (Cierra) Pridgen II of Taylorsville, Utah, Deborah Michelle Pridgen of Hermiston, Oregon, Amanda Louise Pridgen of Nampa, Idaho, 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way, 1 great niece and 2 great nephews.
