Marlene I. Nelson

Marlene Iverson Nelson passed away on September 11, 2024, in Caldwell, Idaho, at the age of 90. She was born on September 8, 1934, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Marlene spent her formative years attending school in Ogden, Utah, later graduating from Weber High School. Marlene married Richard Lynn Nelson (deceased 2019) in June of 1954. The couple later divorced in 1994. She is survived by her children: Lana Jean Nelson, Nancy Ann Hartley (Todd), Reed Terry Nelson, and Brad Taylor Nelson, along with eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Marlene was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Lloyd Williamson. Throughout her career, Marlene held various positions, including manager at Winchell's Donuts and workmen's compensation claims processor for Gibbens McDonald. Marlene was well liked by her co-workers and customers, but her true pride was her family. She devotedly attended every significant family event, consistently offering support and encouragement to her loved ones. A devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Marlene was actively involved in her local ward, where she served in various capacities ranging from teaching to leadership roles. She was known for her compassionate spirit, she often reached out to those in need, whether through delivering meals or offering a listening ear. Marlene was also an accomplished cook and crocheter, creating numerous baby blankets for local and international donations. Her love for homemaking brought beauty to her home and joy to her life. A celebration of Marlene's life will be held at the Caldwell Idaho Stake Center, 3015 South Kimball Avenue, in the Relief Society Room on September 22 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Zeyer Funeral Chapel in Nampa, Idaho is assisting the family with arrangements. Marlene will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to and love for her family, faith, and friends.
