Thelma Irene Walker MarshallSeptember 23, 1944 – October 3, 2024Thelma Irene Walker Marshall, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2024 at the age of 80. Born in American Falls, Idaho, to Basil and Thelma Walker, Irene grew up in Rockland as the second of 11 children. Known for her nurturing spirit, she played a motherly role to her siblings and carried that love with her throughout her life.After graduating from Rockland High School in 1962, Irene moved to Pocatello, where she met her husband, Gary Marshall. They married in 1965 and shared a life full of love, family, and service. Together they raised four children—Gary Jr., Brian, Tamara, and Timothy.Irene was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many roles, including Stake and Ward Relief Society president, Primary president, YW President, and most recently alongside Gary in the nursery, a calling she cherished. After retirement, she and Gary served missions in Salt Lake City Family History Center and Boise Idaho Mission as housing coordinators.Irene is remembered for her kindness, forgiveness, her deep faith, and the loving example she set for all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.Mom leaves an incredible posterity here on earth. Family was everything to her, and she was the heart of ours. She is survived by her loving husband, Gary, who tirelessly has been her primary caretaker for the last 10 years and their children: Gary Jr., Brian (Erika), Tammy(Chris) and Tim(Mandi). Grandchildren: Calvin(Alicia), Alec(Michelle), Dallan, Britney, Kevin(Marisa), Brandon, Kyle, Gabe(Aleeya), Selah, Reece, Ali, Kenli, Bentli, and Oakli. Plus 5 great grandchildren with 2 on the way. She also leaves behind 9 siblings and their spouses, Mark (Laraine), Cortland (Sue), Twayne (Bug), David (Bonnie), Diane (Dean), Paula (Dennis), Nyal (Liz), Robin (Joni), Tina (Kurt). She is preceded in death by her sister, Anita and her parents. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 12 at 11am at the Roosevelt LDS Building. 11288 W Roosevelt Ave. Nampa, ID. Family will be greeting friends and family from 10:00-10:45.
