Virginia Gail Burt peacefully passed away early Saturday morning, October 12, 2024, at Avista Assisted Living in Garden City, Idaho.Gail was born February 5, 1935, to Harold C. Kemp and V. Sylvia Geisler Kemp, in their home in Crescent, Utah. She was the second of four children with an older sister Janet, and two younger brothers, Lynn and Fred.She lived on the family farm in Crescent, Utah where she developed a love for gardening, both vegetables and flowers and learned how to can most of the family’s food with her mom and sister. She learned how to sew from her mother and later took tailoring classes at BYU. She made everything from prom dresses and wedding dresses to suits and baby clothes. She was a beautiful seamstress. She attended and graduated from Jordan High School. She attended one year at BYU in Provo, Utah, where she met James Robert Burt at the bowling alley. On June 11, 1954, she married him in Crescent, Utah. Bob and Gail made their life in Boise, Idaho, mom helping dad in his home construction business, painting, wallpapering and staining the homes he built.She raised her six children, Ryan, Cindy, Sherie, Stacey, Steven and Mark as well as several foster children, a student from the Indian placement program and an exchange student from Kuwait.Mom and Dad went on a church building mission to Newcastle Under Lyme in England for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where they built a church building. They went to England with four children in tow, and about two and a half years later came home with five.They also served two more church missions after retiring, one to Kirkland, Ohio and one to Nauvoo, Illinois. In Nauvoo, mom worked planting flowers and pots in the women’s garden which she loved.Mom had many callings in the Church throughout her life. She was a Primary President, a Relief Society President, a Young Women’s President, a teacher in many organizations and a temple worker.Mom was preceded in death by her husband James Robert Burt; her parents and siblings; and her daughter Sherie Lynn Harper; as well as her grandson Derek Harper. She is survived by her son R. Ryan Burt; daughter Cindy (Jim) Anderson; daughter Stacey (Joel) Tingey; son Steven J. (Melissa) Burt; and son Mark A.
