James Jesse Bell, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully in Nampa, ID, on October 14, 2024, just nine days shy of his 81st birthday. Born in Elizabeth City, NC, Jim's journey began with a strong sense of duty and adventure that led him to serve in the U.S. Navy for 24 years, ultimately retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 (CWO4). His military service took him around the globe, where he forged lifelong friendships and created cherished memories that felt more like family.After his distinguished naval career, Jim pursued higher education and earned an Associates Degree in Applied Science from Clackamas Community College. He transitioned into a fulfilling second career in wastewater treatment at Veolia Water, where he worked until his retirement in 2010.Jim's life was a testament to his unwavering dedication to family and country. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Carrie (Finch) Bell; stepson, David Malone; daughters, Lonna Bell and Jamie Hancock (Russell); sister, Jeri (Bell) Lemons; three cherished grandchildren, Dani Carl (Jordan), CJ Hancock, and Colton Hancock; and numerous nieces, nephews, and honorary family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Edgar (JE) and Helen (Greis) Bell, and his brother, Kenneth Bell.Jim was his grandchildren's biggest fan. Whether it was sports, music, or theater, he was always in the stands cheering them on. Additionally, he loved to bass fish and hunt with his son-in-law. His passion for knowledge extended to politics, and he loved planning trips across the country, especially to Arkansas and Texas to connect with family. He believed that the greatest legacy one can leave is not material wealth, but a legacy of character. Known for his unconditional respect for all individuals, Jim lived by principles of hard work and integrity, instilling these values in his children and grandchildren.He will be remembered not only for his service and dedication but also as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. Jim's commitment to family and country, along with his legacy of love, respect, and -hard work will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
