Kohachi ToyotaOctober 4, 1931 - April 9, 2020Kohachi "K" Toyota passed away peacefully on April 9, 2020 in Nampa, Idaho. He is lovingly remembered by his children: Chris (Linda) Toyota and Karen (Allan) Daynes; grandsons Nick Daynes, David (Analyn) Toyota, and Bryan Toyota; great grandsons Argel Archangel and Derek Toyota; extended family Janet (Milton) Leung, Janice (Joel) Fuquay, and Eugene (Joyce) Lee; siblings Nobuko Toyota, Fukiko "Kik" (Sam) Momii, James Masami (Carolyn) Toyota, and many nieces and nephews. The second of 6 children, K was preceded in death by his parents Tadashi and Misue Toyota, wife of 62 years Lucille Midori Toyota, his son Douglas Toyota, brother Yeiji and sister Misako. Kohachi led a very productive life, starting early as a "tinkerer." Since he was a young boy, his intelligence and ingenuity were recognized by many people throughout his life. He married Lucille "Lucy" Midori Yonemoto in San Jose, California on September 4, 1954. Shortly after, he was called to serve in the Signal Core of the U.S. Army. Stationed in Korea during the Korean War, he established and trained others on radio communication systems. He worked as a mechanic for United Airlines as a young man, and graduated from San Jose State University in Aeronautical Engineering. Kohachi was an accomplished engineer, a founder of Sequoia Turner, and Vice President of Abbott Laboratories. He had an illustrious career and was successful in business, investing, and supporting his family. During his 62-year marriage to Lucy, they raised a family, fostered multiple children for over 26 years, and lived a successful life in many respects. Kohachi's legacy as a son, husband, father, military veteran, engineer, inventor, businessman, investor, and friend will not be forgotten. Services will be held privately.
