Joseph Dale Reed, born July 2, 1928, to Joseph and Ethel Alida Reed, passed from this mortal life Wednesday, January 7, 2015. Dale was born and lived in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he attended school, worked and took care of his life's business of growing and developing into the fine, noble man he became. At the age of 13 he began working for Hygeia Ice, cutting ice cubes. He worked as an older teenager at Snelgrove Ice Cream as a soda jerk and general do-what-ever-needs-doing guy. While there, he was spotted by the spouse of a man who worked at General Electric Company, and was encouraged to apply for an opening with GE. He worked there until he was 19, at which time he left to serve a mission for the LDS Church in South Africa. Upon returning home, he worked for Kedman Company and then returned to GE, working as a Sales Rep for 43 years, when he retired. When he returned from his mission, he met his eternal companion, Marion, and they were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple 63 years ago. He became the father of three fine sons: Kevin, Mark and Matthew, who survive him. Dale and Marion served missions together after he retired. For two years they lived and served the Lord and the people in South Africa. After a time they wanted to be of service as missionaries in other parts of the world: South Korea and Chicago, IL. Dale loved the Lord and delighted in doing His work. Together they also served in the Boise LDS Temple. Dale is survived by Marion, sons Kevin (Ann), Mark (Elsa), Matthew (Jennifer), his brothers David (JoLynn) and Terry (Maria), wonderful in-laws and nieces and nephews, grandsons Justin (Ashlee), Nathan (Emily), Blaine, Jonathan, Victor, Jared, Harrison, and granddaughter Tamsen; 8 great-grand-children: Alena, Izzy, Levi, Bryant, Carter, Katelyn, Sam, Sadie. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Loren, sister Claudine Gray, brothers Harvard and Ward.
