Raymond Walter Lenz

Raymond Walter Lenz, 87, of Melba, passed away in his home on, Sunday, May 22, 2016 surrounded by his family. Raymond was born at home on June 11, 1928 in Squirrel, Idaho to Herman and Mary Lenz. Raymond's parent moved their family of seven children (five boys and two girls) to Nampa in the fall of 1936 where he graduated from high school in 1946. He was drafted into the Army in September 1950 where he served two years as a cook in Fort Ord, California. Raymond married his high school sweetheart Joan Lavone Mitchell on December 23, 1951 at Fort Ord on Monterey Bay. They moved back to Nampa where they farmed until they bought the Montini Ranch on Sinker Creek in Owyhee County in 1956, which they ran for 15 years. They moved to Melba and started Lenz Custom Haying in the Melba Valley until his retirement. Raymond was known throughout the community for his honesty, work ethic and ability to fix just about anything. Raymond is survived by his wife, Joan of 64 years; two sons, Bob Lenz and his wife Debbie, Mike Lenz; and daughter Sue Lenz Muchow and her husband Devin all of Melba; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 28 at Nampa First United Methodist Church, 2717 12th Ave Rd in Nampa with a viewing at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. prior to the services. Graveside services will be held directly after at the Melba Cemetery.
