Bob Max Crooke

Bob Max Crooke, 88, of Nampa passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014 at a local care center. He was born October 3, 1926 to Victor L. and Ruth E. White Crooke in Nampa. He had two brothers Billy Jack and Byron Lyle. He attended school in Caldwell and then at the age of 10 the family moved to Union, Oregon. Bob joined the Merchant Marines at the age of 16. He sailed for three years during WWII as a troop transporter, delivering soldiers to the Pacific Rim. Upon finishing his tour of duty in the Merchant Marines he joined the National Guard and from there was called up to service in the Army during the Korean War. After his service, Bob worked at various jobs. While working in Preston he met Edris Cafferty and they were married in Fairview Co. Idaho, January 18, 1948. They moved to Bakersfield, California where he started his own advertising business called Sierra Specialty. When Bob and Edris were ready to retire they sold the business and moved to Sonora, California where they built a new home. After 10 years in Sonora they moved to Toledo, Washington. Edris became ill and after some complications from an operation she passed away. Bob then moved back to Idaho to be closer to his family. Bob spent much of his time reading, studying investment opportunities, riding his bike and taking walks. He loved spending time visiting with his good neighbors. He was a very positive and happy person and he had a keen sense of humor. He became great friends with Vada Alley. She will especially miss his humor and fun personality. We would like to recognize and thank Legacy Hospice for the great care they gave Bob. He spent his last years at Clearwater care center, and between Legacy Hospice and the caregivers at Clearwater, Bob was treated and cared for with great compassion. He so appreciated all that they did to make his last years comfortable and happy. If anyone would like to make a contribution in his honor, his favorite charity was The Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, Florida 32256
