Bernice Miller was born December 20, 1924, in Osgood, Idaho to James Earl and Annie Ray Montague, the sixth of thirteen children. She passed from this life November 15, 2014 at a local care facility in Eugene, Oregon. Her family lived in several places so Bernice attended school in Osgood, Idaho; Vale, Nyssa and Ontario, Oregon; graduating from Parma High School. A few months before her graduation she met a young serviceman, Leland Carlson, from Adrian, Oregon. They were married in Winnemucca, Nevada on May 17, 1943 and were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple a year later, just before he was shipped overseas during World War II. Leland and Bernice welcomed a daughter and four sons into their family before Leland's passing in 1952. Bernice moved her young family from Utah back to Nyssa to be close to extended family. In 1953 she married Joseph Hartle and they had one daughter. They were later divorced while living in Nampa, Idaho. Bernice met a married Hudson Miller of Baker, Oregon in 1967. They lived in Baker and Roseburg, Oregon and wintered in Dolan Springs and Quartzite, Arizona. Hudson passed away in 2005. Bernice lived in Caldwell until 2012 when she moved to Eugene, Oregon to be close her youngest daughter, Louise. Bernice was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Women's Organization and with the youth. She also served two missions in California with her husband Hudson. Bernice is survived by her children: Shirley Benjamin, Leland Carlson, Ralph Carlson, Dennis Carlson and Louise Cunningham; 28 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; her sisters Afton Jeffries and Emily Mitchell; brothers Austin and Jim Montague. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; her son Ivan; brothers: Lloyd, Ernie, Bert, Lee and Vernon; sisters; Iva, Elva and Oretta. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Nyssa LDS Stake Center, 1309 Park Avenue, Nyssa, Oregon. A viewing will be held at the church from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the services. Arrangements are under the direction of Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa 467-7300
