Howard J. Wilson

Howard J. Wilson of Nampa passed away peacefully at his home in Nampa at the age of 91. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 19, 2016. Howard was born in Drennan, CO. to Frank O. Wilson and Emma (Kreh) Wilson, the youngest of four brothers and one sister. As a young boy, Howard accepted Jesus as his Savior, his faith he carried throughout his life. His love of music developed during his childhood as he listened to his mom play classical music and hymns. He learned to play piano by ear and did so up until the last three weeks of his life. Howard met his wife Ardis in Colorado Springs and they married in April 1949 enjoying 67 years of marriage, and raising five children. In Colorado He worked as a postal carrier for the US Post Office along with other odd jobs to support his growing family. In 1965 Howard, with family in tow, moved to Meridian, ID to farm with his brother-in-law Ed Good. Later they purchased farm land on Hatte Butte, overlooking the Melba Valley where his kids learned how to "pick" rocks, change pipe lines and hoe weeds. Attending Berean Baptist Church (now called New Hope) brought life-long friendships to the family where Howard served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, Awana Commander and choir member. He taught his family by his faithful actions what was important, his love and service for God and others. Having a heart for missions, in 1988, he and Ardis went to Papua New Guinea to run a guest house for New Tribes Missions allowing missionary families to have a much needed break from jungle life. In 1993 they headed back to the US. Howard worked hard throughout his life. Over the years with his family he took many fun trips to the mountains to fish, camp, hunt, and rock hound. He and Ardis traveled all over the states. He was a happy and loving husband, parent and grandparent, enjoying time spent with the family. Howard was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; son, David Wilson; great-granddaughter, Rebecca Aldrich and great-grandson, Matthew Bennett.
