LaVerne L. Forney

LaVerne L. Forney (McClintock), 91, of Boise passed away December 20, 2015 at a local care center. LaVerne was born September 21, 1924 in Vilas, (Southeastern) Colorado. She was the third child of Mr. and Mrs. William McClintock. Her parents' ancestors were born in Ireland. Her father had a homestead next to an older brother. He rented his farm out and moved to Kansas City, Missouri to attend a mechanic school. After he graduated he moved to Denver. His mother asked him to move back home and he did. He moved to Idaho in 1941, first to Parma and then Roswell. LaVerne graduated from Nampa High School. LaVerne married Robert (Bob) L. Forney on September 27, 1943. Afterwards Bob farmed his grandfather's farm. Bob and LaVerne then moved to Melba. Bob ran a custom grinding mill, was a mechanic, and bus driver and later became a message therapist. LaVerne painted and then became a secretary at Melba High School. She also taught art classes there. She has painted and sold over 100 paintings. She has been a member of Melba Friends Church for over 60 years where she also played piano and organ. She had the great talent of making those instruments "sing"! LaVerne had one sister Velma Trost of Concordia, Kansas; two children Douglas Forney (deceased) and Deanna McKellip; four grandchildren: Rob McKellip, Paula Mayes, Mark McKellip and Susie Gafford; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; and one nephew Kevin McClintock. At the time of her passing LaVerne was not able to live on her own so she had been living at Ashley Manor on Elgin Street in Boise. She has been cared for by the best--compliments to the staff at Ashley Manor who are honestly angels in disguise. Thank you so very much. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 15, 2016 at the Melba Friends Church, 301 Randolph St in Melba. Arrangement are under the direction of Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa. 467-7300. Condolences may be expressed at zeyerfuneralchapel.com.
